"Democracy Simply Doesn't Work"
Herein Kent is telling us to follow the money, Democracy doesn't work as it is out of touch millionaires serving corporations elected on promises they can never implement, from mass deportations to universal basic income.
Kent is saying the whole system is rancid and needs to be overturned to be a far more publicly accessible and accountable model that serves the needs of the people rather than the idea of what those needs are.
Kent’s comment can also be read regarding the effects of political tribalism in current democracies where there is few true examples of bi-partisan cooperation or different political factions working together for the greater good of the people. If you just elect someone based on the fact they are your team and you never vote outside of your block, then democracy is broken at your personal level.
